Announcing PetRecords Dog Registry.

Committed to our core mission, Everything in one place, PetRecords is excited to announce our newest feature... (Drumroll)... Our Dog Registry. With Integrity in mind, our registry is designed to be more transparent, authentic, and trustworthy than the AKC (more about that below). Easy to use, register, and transfer dogs than any other registry, our registry integrates perfectly with the system you've already grown to love.

Open Registration Now Available

What is "open registration?"

That is an excellent question! Our open registration is the process by which we are now allowing dogs to be registered for a time. During open registration, we prove two ways for dogs to enter into our registry: 1)Dogs already registered with the AKC (or whose parents are registered with the AKC) and 2) Embark genetic testing.

Dogs that are AKC registered, or whose pedigrees come from AKC stock will be accepted into PetRecords Registry on that basis alone. All further offspring will be automatically eligible for registration within the system.

What if my dog is not from AKC or AKC lineage?
We get it, not everyone uses AKC for various reasons. We don't want that to be a prohibition on joining what we expect to be the best registry to enter the game! Any dog that is not from the AKC or that lineage can still enter our registry through Embark genetic testing. Once we confirm the results, we can mark your dog eligible for registration and move the process along. If you have already Embarked your dog, just post your link in the "Health Testing" portion of your dogs info page, and send us a message asking that we review it. We will get back with you shortly after.

How long will Open Registration last? Another great question that is more difficult to answer at this time. Open Registration will not last forever, but it's full duration will depend upon how quickly our registry is adopted by our users. As we register more dogs and build a base for the registry to work with, we will move to our closed registration.

Closed Registration

What is "closed registration?"

When we enter into our closed registration segment, we will become much more strict about which dogs are allowed to enter the system from the outside. Once in closed registration, any dog that descends from a PetRecords Registered dog will automatically be eligible for our registry. Outside dogs can still join the registry, but the process will be slightly more involved.

I missed closed registration. How do I get my dog in? Once we enter closed registration (an announcement will be on this page and our Facebook page prior), you will be required to provide additional documentation to enter a dog into the registry. For AKC dogs, you will be required to provide the AKC information, a photocopy of the certificate (to validate the level of rights you have for the dog) and any applicable purchase agreements for the dog.
For non-AKC dogs, you will still be required to Embark genetic test your dog, but you will also be required to provide purchase agreements for the dog (if applicable) as well as pedigrees for our research. We will get back to you after all documentation has been provided to let you know whether your dog was accepted into our registry.

What are your prices/Fees

We believe in a registry that is approachable and affordable. To make that happen, we have a simple registration process and fee structure.
All registrations are $35. Thats it, no hidden costs, no gotchya moments, no surprises. Once a dog has been registered, it's registration follows it family to family. We do not charge late registration fees or transfer fees. The only additional fee you might incur is the cost of a duplicate certificate ($15) if you lose yours or want a new copy with new owner information printed on it.

What about litter registration fees? We believe that you should not have to pay to register a litter and then pay to register the dogs. For that reason, litters are not charged a registration fee and are generated in our system the same way you are already used to.

What are the different registration/transfer levels?

PetRecords offers three different levels of registration: Pet Only, Limited Rights, and Full Rights.
Much like the AKC Limited and Full rights work much in the same way. However, you have noticed we added a third registration option, Pet Only. Our intentions behind this are to make things more clear to current and future buyers.
The difference between Pet Only and Limited Registration differ in what the dog can become in the future. A Limited Registration may be, with the breeders/sellers permission, be upgraded to a Full Registration at some point in the future. Should the breeder/buyer agree to that on their own terms. A Pet Only registration may never be upgraded beyond that. This registration is reserved for dogs, that for whatever reason, the breeder/seller has determined should never breed.
We believe this extra registration option brings more transparency and will cause less confusion for future buyers.

Revealing our Badge/Level system

Creating Awareness for Healthy Dogs

In our announcement, we said we wanted to be more transparent than AKC. But what, exactly, did we mean by that?
Well, we wanted to create a system that allows buyers, at a glance, to see the quality of your dogs. It's no secret that an AKC registration does not guarantee the quality of a dog, or even that it is, indeed, full breed. Even so, because of the reputation they have built, most people trust them as to source of guaranteed quality. We want to bring transparency into what a registration means.
So how are we going to do that?
We did that by introducing a level/badge system on our registration certificates. There are four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each level represents that status of a kennel/dog within our registry.

Bronze: Bronze level/badged certificates show that while a dog has been registered within the system, not much is known about the dog/quality of the kennel. This does not indicate that we believe the dog/kennel will have issues, but that they have not been fully verified with PetRecords.

Silver: A Silver badge will display on most certificates. This badge indicates that our registry has not found any issues with the kennel or the dog, and that the breeder meets a standard of care/quality that is trusted by PetRecords. Most breeders will receive this badge unless we receive and verify reports that their standards do match that of PetRecords.

Gold: A Gold badge indicates that the dog registered on the certificate has been health/genetically tested and that PetRecords has verified the results. This badge is indicated to give confidence to a buyer of the premium quality and standards met in the dog they are consider purchasing.

Platinum: A Platinum badge indicates that a dog has not only received health/genetic testing, but has gone through OFA testing as well. These results have been reviewed and verified by PetRecords and the badge should give great confidence to buyers of the Exceptional quality and standards met in this dog.

Do the different badges cost extra money?
No! Our registration fees are consistence across the badge levels. The only cost associated with a higher level badge would come, if at a later time after registration, you health tested and/or OFA tested your dog and want a new registration certificate printed with the new badge. The replacement certificate will cost $15.
